Know What to do During a Shelter in Place Emergency!

Wally Wise Guy saysIn the event of a the accidental release of dangerous chemicals, safety sirens will sound to alert the public.If you hear the sirens, or are told by teachers or other adults to Shelter-in-Place, remember to:

Shelter, Shut and Listen

Take these actions right away:

  • Go inside (if you’re at home, take pets with you)
  • Close and lock all windows and doors (locking provides a tighter seal)
  • If there are gaps in windows or doors, seal with tape or damp towels
  • Turn on the radio and tv to get more information
  • Wait until you get word of an “all clear” before going back outside
